Smedjebacken is situated in the heart of the traditional steel making area Bergslagen, approximately a two-hour drive from Stockholm.
The company was founded in 1856 as Smedjebackens Walsverk. After several fusions and changes in ownership over the years, Ovako Bar AB was founded in 2005 as part of the Ovako Group.
The steelmaking plant at Smedjebacken includes an electric-arc furnace, ladle metallurgy treatment and continuous casting of billets. The rolling mill produces hot rolled flat bar and round bar.
Our material is mainly sold to the automotive, transport and manufacturing industries in the Nordic Countries and Northern Europe.
