Ovako is working closely with machining companies to enable a well functioning supply chain for high performing end products. In our relations with component suppliers we ensure to be strongest possible supply chain partner, with the ability to supply many different types of steel grades, based on three different metallurgical routes.
Ovako can meet most customer specifications, using ingot- or continuous-cast routes (bloom and billet sizes are both available) for competitive pricing at any performance level. Following earlier investments in bar peeling and heat treatment, since end of 2019 Ovako is able to supply also vacuum degassed steel from the Smedjebacken billet casting route.
Our state-of-the-art non-destructive testing ensures highest quality of delivered products. We also have various options of tailored logistics concepts and commercial systems integration.
Thanks to a closely controlled production chain from initial melt to final delivery, our products are known for their highly stable material quality with narrow process parameters. As a result, our products enable highly stable forming processes, repeatable hardenability and improved machinability.
For the highest productivity we recommend our range of M-Steel, the ultimate choice for superior machinability combined with exceptional toughness and fatigue strength. M-Steel enables higher cutting speeds and improved efficiency. Tests show that M-Steel can reduce machining costs by 30–40%, significantly boosting profitability. We work closely with our customers, advising on cutting data, choice of tools and quality assurance through machining tests.
